Role overview
About the role
We’re building a strong software engineering team and are at an important inflection point. As early members or our engineering team, you’ll be responsible for developing the early versions of our application, designing and implementing robust and scalable development practices and will help set the direction of our product, culture and company.
What you'll be working on
You’ll be involved in all aspects of the development and performance of our customer facing API. You might specialise in some areas more than others but this could include:
- Developing our API with new and improved features for the Python library and the backend;
- Improving and maintaining the infrastructure that handles the API requests; and
- Building other tools to improve the customer facing product
Essential requirements
- You must be comfortable designing highly scalable and testable code ready for deployment. We are looking for engineers that can own a particular feature from start to finish;
- You have experience shipping production applications written in Python;
- Experience with SQL and noSQL databases;
- Working proficiency and communication skills in verbal and written English; and
- The existing right to work in the UK.
Not essential but nice to have
- Some demonstrable experience with additional programming languages in production;
- Experience with DevOps tools such as CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, etc;
- BS degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience;
- Master’s, PhD degree, further education or experience in Computer Science, Maths, Physics or Engineering;
- Machine learning experience; and
- Portfolio of personal related projects.

At Neuro we’ve built the API for serverless ML compute. We abstract the entire infrastructure required to efficiently train and deploy your models so that ML engineers can focus on ML, not servers. We are a well backed (Y Combinator and other tier 1 investors) startup at an important inflexion point. If you want to be part of a technology growth story from the ground up then this is a very rare opportunity for engineers in the South West of England.
